What grants did we apply for?

We applied for the Waterworks grant and Council Allocated funds in 2019.

How did we choose our garden design, placement, and plants?

We had four design workshops with the Stone Soup Gardens crew. Two in-person and two online during the pandemic.

DESIGN - We had four groups that envisioned their own version of how we wanted the rain garden to look like. We all anticipated rainfall and took into account how far we had to build from the sidewalk. Then we took that information and combined all of our designs into one!

PLANTS - We took some of our favorite plants and found a rain garden alternative to those plants. The other plants represent our school colors and are common rain garden plants.

PLACEMENT - Outside the east wing building was great because we had two downspouts and it was an unused area! We initially dug a 12 feet holes and did infiltration tests in the spots we wanted the most around campus. The East Wing soil drained well and we ended up choosing that spot.
